Melissa Harris Perry is one of the most important political voices of our time. A professor of political science at Tulane University, she wears many hats as the host of MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry, the author of several books including Sister Citizen: Shame, Stereotypes and Black Women in America, and is the founding director of the Anna Julia Cooper Project, which focuses on gender, race and politics in the South. Her poise, power and position breaks barriers and changes perceptions of black women in the political arena.
