Blind 16 Year Old Wows Audience With National Anthem

Sometimes you just need to see and hear something beautiful. As cold as it is outside today in the South, today is one of those days.

16-year-old Marlana VanHoose sang the National Anthem before the University of Kentucky vs Ole Miss women’s basketball game back on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012. Almost two years ago, but even so this will never get old.

The Johnson Central student, who is blind and was born with Cytomegalovirus, visited at midcourt with University of Kentucky Women’s Head Coach Matthew Mitchell before the game.

“It was really moving,” Mitchell said. “I told her before tipoff, it really brought tears to my eyes. It was the best performance we’ve ever had here at Memorial Coliseum. What an unbelievable voice on a little bitty girl like that,” Mitchell continued.
