Today we are celebrating the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Usually we celebrate on the third Monday of January, but today is his actual birthday which is January 15th. So to kick off the celebration, Derrick talked to two special guest who were in the studio to tell you about all the special events that are taking place in Atlanta to honor the civil rights legend.
First we talked to Afemo Omilami of JHosea Feed The Hungry and Homeless. They will be having their 44th Annual MLK Dinner on Monday, January 20th from 10 A.M. until 3 P.M. at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park. The theme of this years event is called “Foot Soilders – Who are today’s unknown human rights activists?” If you are interested in attending this event or need more information call 404-755-3353.
We also talked to Djuan Coleon. He is part of the movment 100 Days of Nonviolence, and they have a week full of events for you and your family to attend.
