Falcons CB Desmond Trufant Named To PFWA All-Rookie Team

Flowery Branch, GA – The Pro Football Writers of America today announced that Atlanta Falcons cornerback Desmond Trufant has been named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

Trufant, 6-0, 190 pounds, finished his rookie season with 73 total tackles (57 solo), two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

His 17 passes defensed ranked tied for 10th in the NFL and set a franchise rookie record, topping Darnell Walker’s 13 pass breakups in 1993.

The first round selection (22nd overall) started all 16 games as a rookie and according to Stats LLC., Trufant allowed a 48.3 completion percentage on passes thrown his way.

He started 47 of 50 career games at the University of Washington posting 195 tackles (151 solo) with a school record 39 passes defensed, 8.5 tackles for loss, and six interceptions.
