ATHENS — Kenny Gaines scored 17 points and Georgia used a late 11-0 run to come from behind and beat Western Carolina 65-63 Saturday at Stegeman Coliseum.
The Bulldogs (6-4) trailed the Catamounts by as much as 10 points in the second half, but got timely baskets and made enough free throws down the stretch to secure their fifth consecutive victory.
The game was tied 29-29 at halftime, when Western Carolina (6-8) ran off eight straight points to open the second half. They maintained that lead for much of the half, until Georgia came to life with 5:41 left to play, closing the game on a 15-5 run.
Mark Fox’s club has some time off before traveling to face number 20 Colorado on December 28.
