On today’s show Al Sharpton tackled the controversial subject of the “N-word, as Suge Knight recently told TMZ that he prefers being called the N-word rather than African-American. Knight is the founder and CEO of Black Kapital Records and co-founder of Death Row Records. Knight goes on to explain, “I like that better than ‘African-American,’ we not from Africa, we Black.”
In an online TMZ poll, a shocking 55% of people agreed that black people should be called the “N-word” as opposed to “African-American.” Al Sharpton expressed his opposition to the word, but asked callers was there an appropriate time for the N-word to be used. Majority of callers voiced their disapproval of the word at any time, due to the past oppressive use of the word. Where do you stand on the issue? Take a listen to the discussion below:
