LONDON (CBS Atlanta) - The soothing effects of chocolate are well documented.

Now Italian researchers have come up with a scientific explanation for why many people can’t resist it, reports The Telegraph.

It’s all in your brain.

The scientists found that some people’s brains are hardwired to to enjoy chocolate more than others.

Even seeing a picture of a chocolate cake can activate the pleasure centers of their brains.

The study, conducted at the Institute of Clinical Physiology in Pisa, also found that others are not as excited about chocolate and are more likely to choose a healthier alternative.

Dr Patricia Iozzo led the study at the Institute of Clinical Physiology in Pisa.

She said it’s still not clear exactly what triggers the reaction.

“There is not a specific substance in the food of most people who show addictive behavior that can be held responsible,” she said.

The researchers also found that some people’s brains barely register when eating chocolate
