MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (CBS Atlanta) – James Maze suspected something was up when he started getting condolences from friends…about his own death reports WAFF-TV.

In fact, Maze is very much alive and is running for Marshall County Sheriff.

The station reported that Maze decided to look himself up and found his obituary in a local newspaper.

Maze told the station that his history was correct, but his age and names of relatives were incorrect.

The local newspaper mixed up the James Maze running for sheriff with another James Maze.

Maze wants the people of Marshall County to know he is still alive and still running for sheriff. “It’s going to take me awhile to get everybody to understand I’m not dead,” he told the television station.

The paper told Maze they would run a correction in their next edition.
