Atlanta (WAOK) — Hosea Feed The Hungry and Homeless is gearing up this week for the “Southeast’s largest sit-down dinner for the homeless and hungry”, Thursday, November 28th, at the Georgia World Congress Center. The 44th annual Thanksgiving Dinner Event led by CEO Elisabeth Omilami, will feed thousands of at-risk people in metro Atlanta as well as provide them with numerous enrichment services, free of charge.

Besides dinner, Hosea Feed The Hungry and Homeless’ all day event will provide attendees with personal care services such as hot showers, barber and salon service, medical and legal aid, and even employment opportunities. “Many of the 5 to 6,000 individuals that come to this event have not taken a shower in six months, the children have not had their hair washed and their hair is matted, and sometimes the men have not taken off their shoes and their feet are infected”, explains Elisabeth Omilami during the Hosea Feed The Hungry Press Conference held in October. In order to provide the equipment and space needed to sustain the provided services, HAZMAT trailers will be placed around the Georgia World Congress Center. The trailers will hold the showers and sinks for bathing and hair-washing, and provide space for barbers and beauticians, a medical clinic, as well as a children’s clothing closet. The minimum age for volunteering for the Thanksgiving Dinner event is 12 years old.
