One of the tough parts about having a Thursday night game is that you have much less time to recover from any nagging injuries. For the Falcons, it definitely shows as they currently have nine players listed on this week’s injury report.

The good news about the nine players listed is that only four of them are starters while the rest are second or third string players.

The two starting defensive players listed are defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux (tricep) and middle linebacker Paul Worrilow (shoulder). Babineaux was limited in practice the entire week and is listed as questionable. Worrilow was limited Monday and Tuesday but was able to fully participate in practice on Wednesday. He is listed as probable. Travian Robertson will likely be the replacement for Babineaux and if Worrilow cannot play, expect Akeem Dent to fill in for him.

The offensive starters listed in this week’s injury report are tight end Tony Gonzalez (toe) and right tackle Jeremy Trueblood (knee/hip). Gonzalez was not able to participate in practice either Monday or Tuesday. Fortunately he was able to practice – although limited – on Wednesday and is listed as questionable. Like Gonzalez, Trueblood was limited Monday and Tuesday but was able to fully participate in practice on Wednesday. He is listed as probable. Chase Coffman is listed as Gonzalez’ replacement and Sean Locklear is behind Trueblood on the depth chart currently.

The final five Falcons listed in this week’s injury report are all backups. Two are on offense and three are on defense. On the offensive side of the ball, quarterback Dominique Davis (knee) has been limited all three days and is listed as questionable. The other offensive Falcon listed is running back Jacquizz Rodgers (ankle). ‘Quizz was limited both Monday and Tuesday but was able to fully participate on Wednesday. He is listed as probable.

Left defensive end Malliciah Goodman (calf), defensive tackle Peria Jerry (shoulder) and strong safety Zeke Motta (hand) complete the list of injured backup defensive players for the Falcons. Goodman has been unable to participate in practice all three days and is the only Falcon listed as out. Jerry was limited in practice Monday and Tuesday but was back to full participation on Wednesday and is listed as probable. Motta was limited all three days and is listed as questionable.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:25 pm EST.

For reference:

  • Probable: a 75% chance the injured player will be medically cleared for the game
  • Questionable: a 50% chance the injured player will be medically cleared for the game
  • Doubtful: a 25% chance the injured player will be medically cleared for the game
  • Out: there is no chance the injured player will be medically cleared for the game
