BUFORD, Ga. (AP) — Police in an Atlanta suburb hope that a series of arrests have broken up a street gang known as Top Rank Goons.
Gwinnett police Cpl. Jake Smith tells WYAY-FM (http://bit.ly/JLSbbH) that the gang has been involved in a running feud with a rival gang that included a series of crimes. One of them was a shooting on the basketball courts at a Buford Apartment complex in June that wounded one gang member. Smith says the gang is known for retaliating and harassing people they disagree with.
The county’s Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team was called into help arrest members of the gang.
Four members were taken into custody last week and face charges of aggravated assault, battery and terroristic threats, among others. All are jailed without bond.
