DREAMweavers Atlanta Talks Immigration Reform And Alliance Theatre Opens Its Curtains To By The Way, Meet Vera Stark
DREAMweavers Atlanta is a nonprofit organization that focuses on helping non-citizens become full citizens through immigration reform and deferred action programs. DREAMweavers has three locations growing at rapid rates, faster than they dreamed possible. Sean Bennett, Chief Executive, Megan Harrison, Executive Officer for legal and educational services, and Misty Novitch, Activism and Outreach Organizer, are in the studio discussing how they tackle some of the major immigration issues right here in Atlanta. DREAMweavers takes a sociological perspective to make a difference and impact in the greater Atlanta community.
The Alliance Theatre is bringing to the stage By The Way, Meet Vera Stark in the heart of Atlanta. “Provoking conversation while providing a good time, ” Director of New Projects, Celise Kalke says they are busting through the mold with this play. Vera Stark is played by actress Toni Trucks, who tells Cynthia that she is, “…fascinated with how we [she and Vera] are similar rather than how we are different…” The play will run from October 16th, 2013 through November 10th, 2013 as the second production in the Theatre’s 10 play season.
