Atlanta (WAOK/AJC) — Dekalb County Animal Services is currently providing free spaying and neutering procedures to pit bull terriers and pit bulls mixes owned by Dekalb County residents.
The Free Pit Fix program aims to combat pit bull overpopulation and reduce the number of pit bulls that are euthanized. A private grant is funding the surgeries, and the LifeLine Animal Project in Avondale Estates is administering the free spay and neuter service, along with vaccinations.
