A night to remember in Atlanta as thousands  of friends, family , fellow civil rights leaders and  celebrities  came out to  the Martin Luther King Jr. International  Chapel on the campus of Morehouse college  Sunday night for  the star studded   “I’ve Known Rivers'” Gala  celebrating the Reverend Dr. Joseph E. Lowery’s 92nd birthday and the life of his late wife Mrs. Evelyn Gibson Lowery.  On hand for the occasion was the Reverend  Joseph Lowery, his daughters,  the Reverend Bernice King,  Ambassador Andrew Young,  comedian Chris Tucker and actors Malcolm Jamal Warner, Terri Vaughn along  with producer and  director Kenny Leon among others.  The night of entertainment and celebration included an opening performance by Ann Nesby. Other performances by jazz great Kathleen Bertrand, a stage reading starring  Cassi Davis, Derek Watkins and Terri Vaughn and a civil rights  reenactment by of Joseph Lowery leading the SCLC  performed by students from Clark Atlanta, Spelman and Morehouse colleges. This years recipient of the Joseph E. Lowery Agent of Change Award was entertainment mogul Tyler Perry who was presented the award by  the Joseph E. Lowery Institute for Justice and Human Rights for his spirit and commitment to finding a way, and helping future  generations .   The night ended with comediene and actor Jamie Foxx honoring Dr. Lowery and the singing of We Shall Overcome.  The birthday celebration was put on by the Joseph E. Lowery Institute for Justice and Human Rights which  strives to empower, inspire and train current and future  leaders to improve their communities, nationally and internationally
