Atlanta Says Goodbye To Civil Rights Leader Evelyn Lowery

On this week’s segment of Atlanta Up Close, the civil rights community comes out to remember pioneer and civil rights leader Mrs. Evelyn Lowery, who founded SCLC Women. Lowery was married to Rev. Joseph Lowery who founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference or SCLC which was on the forefront for gaining civil rights and equality for African-Americans. These historic figures marched along side Martin Luther King Jr. and continued to inspire the generations following them. In Mrs. Lowery’s homegoing service and celebration of life hear what those closest to her remember about her. Fellow activists, friends, and collages  such as Mayor Kasim Reed, The Reverend Al Sharpton, Xernona Clayton and many others spoke on Mrs. Lowery’s great works and her compassionate nature.
