ATLANTA (CBS Atlanta) – The days of scrubbing our teeth for at least two minutes per brushing may be behind us, thanks to the invention of a three-dimensional toothbrush called the Blizzident.
Makers of the product – which resembles a pair of dentures that come complete with bristles – states that “all teeth [are] perfectly brushed in 6 seconds” after one begins using it. Users insert the product into their mouths and brush by biting and grinding their teeth into it.
“Because you are brushing all your teeth at the same time, you are brushing extremely quickly,” manufacturers note. “You brush all the difficult-to-reach and interdental regions without even having to think about it.”
They added, “After 6 seconds’ brushing time all your teeth are already perfectly clean.”
The Blizzident might just be the key to addressing a widespread lack of vigilance regarding teeth-cleanings throughout the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta warn on their official website that many children and adults throughout the nation grapple with tooth decay and periodontal disease caused by neglect for dental health.
Researchers noted, “Dental hygiene and oral health are often taken for granted but are essential parts of our everyday lives.”
The product costs $299, and requires a dental scan so that each Blizzident is made to fit the mouth of whomever orders it. Each one is said to last for approximately one year.
