ATLANTA (AP) — The AARP is hosting a day of service in Atlanta as part of its annual national convention at the Georgia World Congress Center this week.
The group’s national expo is titled “Life@50+” and the organization is hosting a day of community service that will feature former NFL quarterback Dan Marino, sportscaster James “JB” Brown and others Thursday morning before teams of volunteers work on service projects throughout the city.
AARP officials say volunteers will work at the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Books for Africa, the DeKalb Senior Center, the Salvation Army and more.
The organization’s annual convention runs Wednesday through Saturday. The convention includes a session featuring Julian Bond and former Atlanta Mayor, congressman and United Nations ambassador Andrew Young.
