ATLANTA (CBS Atlanta) – A 5-year-old girl found wandering a suburban Atlanta neighborhood on Sunday was returned to her family hours later, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The girl was found just before 3:30 a.m. roaming the streets of Norcross, a Gwinnett County Police Spokesman told the paper.
The child told officers the door at the home where she was staying was open…and she walked outside. She did not know the location of the home, according to the police.
Gwinnett County Police Corporal Troy Tobler told the AJC a family member called at around 7:30 a.m. and said the child had been spending the night with a relative when she wandered off.
The child was returned to her mother just after 10 a.m., said Tobler. He added that this is not being considered a criminal matter.
