Providing services to homeless Veterans such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, VA and benefits counseling, and referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as housing, employment and substance abuse treatment are just some of what is offered at Stand Downs.
Stand Downs are collaborative events, coordinated between local VAs, other government agencies, Community Partners, and Veterans Service Organizations that serve the homeless. In order to provide our homeless veterans with the support they need, we are again reaching out to a strong network of supporters like you. We are hoping that you will once again answer the call to serve by joining the dedicated individuals throughout our community for this year’s Homeless Veterans Stand Down.
All volunteers 18 and over are welcome to participate however, by regulation they must not have any of the following:
- Been hospitalized for mental or physical issues in the last 6 months.
- Be in an intensive treatment program.
- Be required to volunteer as part of their treatment plan in a program.
- Be required to volunteer to meet legal requirement of community service hours.
