ATLANTA (CBS Atlanta) – There will be one less wild pig terrorizing residents of Lithonia.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that local hunters and tracking dogs trapped and killed a 400-pound hog that had been scaring children and adults alike in the suburban Atlanta neighborhood.
Dogs picked up the scent of the animal, allowing hunters to subsequently surround it within ten minutes’ time. The dogs attacked it first, before a hunter stabbed it to death with a knife, the paper learned.
Residents say they are relieved.
“I’ve been terrorized the last couple of nights,” Dell Powell told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “This is a wonderful feeling.”
But many in the Stonebridge Woods subdivision are still wary. During the week there have been reported sightings of as many as 4 feral swine.
Hunters believe, though, that this porcine prowler was the only one. Still, they are resetting their traps, just in case.
As for the final fate of this pig, hunter Tavares Dennis told the paper, “It should be good food.”
