The Falcons dominated every single part of the game, but found a way to lose the game last Sunday is this a trend? They are finding ways to lose instead of finding a way to close out the game and win. Dating back to last season their last 5 games including the play-offs last season the Falcons have blow leads of 17pts vs Seattle, 20pts vs 49ers, 10pts vs Saints, 10pts vs Rams, and 10pts vs the Dolphins last weekend. Tom Brady and the Pats come to town Sunday night. Last Sunday they had a great run game in Steven Jackson’s absence. Julio Jones and Matt Ryan had another good game. They got pressure against the Dolphins. The trend that scares me is that they are finding a way to lose. Inexcusable!!!
Don’t blame the running game either Jacquizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling went off. Losing both Steven Jackson and Bradie Ewing was a big blow and most felt that the running game would be even more non-existent, not true Rodgers and Snelling both ran very well both on the outside and between the tackles. Both running backs stepped up combining for 146 yards. The problem with the Falcons is…Terrible Redzone Offense.
With a lead of 21-3 at home and very close to the redzone with plenty of time and a timeout vs. the Rams, the Falcons don’t even try to close out the deal with a TD. After having a great drive for a TD, Falcons get a huge 3 and out, get the ball back, and drive right down the field again. With a chance to go up 14-0 on the road and really put pressure on the Dolphins, they settle for a FG again. FG’s will not win in this league, TD’s win. The Dolphins come right back down and score a TD, making it 10-7. Falcons follow suit and drive down again themselves with a chance to go up as much as 21-7 or at least 17-7. FG again. When they needed to score late in the 4th Quarter on the their final drive Mike Smith kicks a field goal with 2 minutes to play, Falcons miss the FG and what happens???? Dolphins drive down field and score game-winning touchdown. Even just one TD instead of a FG puts the game essentially out of reach. They better get it fixed, fast and in a hurry.
