September Closes Out Sickle Cell Awareness Month and The NAACP Atlanta Talks Upcoming Events

This week Atlanta Up Close is helping bring awareness to Sickle Cell Disease. September is the national month of Sickle Cell Awareness. Cynthia will have Gerald Mansfield, operations manager of The Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia, Inc., in the studio to discuss the foundations events and contributions to the fight against Sickle Cell. Also, Lillie Ann Thomas and daughter Jessica Smith, who was diagnosed with Sickle Cell as a child, are in studio giving their personal account of their battle against Sickle Cell Disease. The NAACP Atlanta is in the studio for their monthly visit. They will be recapping their recent Jondelle Johnson Freedom Fund Gala. The Jondelle Johnson Freedom Fund Gala celebrated outstanding leaders in the Atlanta community and their philanthropic work. Rev. Dr. R. L. White Jr., Atlanta branch president,, will be in the studio giving us the inside details on any up coming events.
