Its that time again where I take a look at any potential lock games and pick against the spread. I understand last week things didn’t go so well. The Patriots offense is struggling and did so versus the Bills in week 1, barely winning and no where near covering the spread of 10 points given to the Bills. The Texans would have covered the 4 points given to the Chargers had it not been for a pathetic start to their regular season. The Texans won by 3 after a Charger collapse, missing the spread by a single point. Kansas City covered versus Jacksonville and the Bucs dropped the ball versus the Jets as my wildcard pick.
So last week the Dred goes 1-2 versus the Spread as far as lock picks and 0-1 with the wild card selection. This week’s games look janky. Yet, there are 2 games that appear to be “Fa sho”.
This week the Dred will take the Titans (+9) versus the Texans and Washington (+7) versus the Packers. The Titans come off an impressive win against the Steelers in week 1 with outstanding play from their front 7 led by linebacker, Zach Brown who collected 2 sacks to go along with 8 tackles. The Titans defense led by bounty gate’s own Gary Williams gave up a whopping 195 total yards to the Steelers. The Titans offense was admittedly shaky, but look for some of the mistakes they made to be cleaned up making this a close game.
Washington started week 1 with a loss to the Eagles in a very exciting Monday Night Football kickoff. Washington’s quarterback, RG3, appeared a bit rusty in the 1st half versus the Eagles, but they looked like another team in the 2nd half when coach Shannahan started to roll RG3 out the pocket more leading to more success on offense. The Packers defense is filled with holes…..and so is Washington’s defense. Of course Aaron Rodgers and the high powered Packers offense will put up points…..so will RG3 lead Washington’s offense to points. This will be a shoot out. Take the over of 52 and Washington with the 7, fa sho!
As a wild card pick the week, take the Broncos (-6) over the Giants. If the Giants turn the ball over half the amount of times as they did in week 1 (6 turnovers), they get blowed out. Peyton Manning is 2-0 versus lil brother. The Giants O-line is suspect. Peyton made everyone a believer last week in the season opener versus the Ravens, he could at least throw 3 touchdowns a game from here on out. That may not necessarily play out that way, but at least it’s enough to take them -6 over the home town Giants.
Well, I shall return next week with a recap of this week’s pick. If things play out as projected, the Dred will be 3-2 versus the Spread. Til then, thank you and stay blessed.
