Jose Fernandez hit his first major league homerun Wednesday night and it happened to be against our Atlanta Braves. Had he just hit his homerun, rounded the bases and celebrated that milestone with his teammates all would have ended well.
That did not happen.
He belted one to left field, stood there and watched it and just that part would have been acceptable, not cool, but acceptable.
When he rounded third base however he spit at the ground in front of Braves third basemen Chris Johnson. And again that in and of itself could have just been a coincidence.
But when he crossed homeplate and began jawing with Braves catcher Brian McCann, Johnson raced in from thrid base and the dugouts and bullpens cleared.
