MABLETON, Ga. (AP/WAOK) — A middle school was placed on lockdown northwest of Atlanta Friday morning as officers searched for a person they feared was armed with a knife.
Cobb County police spokesman Michael Bowman said officers checked all classrooms and other rooms inside Lindley Middle School to determine “whether there was an actual perpetrator or threat.”
According to the AJC, Cobb school officials determined that the report was a hoax.
Worried parents arrived at the school and waited ninety minutes for police to issue an all clear.
Bowman said no one has been injured.
The school is on Veterans Memorial Highway in Mableton, about 10 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.
