Burglary Suspect Shot By DeKalb Police Officer

ATLANTA (AP/WAOK) – A DeKalb County police officer has shot a man who was a suspect in a daytime burglary attempt.

Officials say one of three suspects in the attempted Tuesday morning burglary of a DeKalb County home was hiding and was shot in the arm when he surprised officers.

Police spokesman Mekka Parish said a woman called police about 10:30 a.m. and said there was a break-in at her home.

When police arrived they found two men hiding in the attic of the home. A third suspect fled to a home more than a mile away and hid in a shed in the rear of the house.

DeKalb Police Chief Cedric Alexander said the suspect was shot when he jumped out in front of the officer.
