ATLANTA (WAOK) – People will soon be able to get an energy boost by using caffeine spray on their skin. It’s the invention of 21-year-old entrepreneur Ben Yu. He’s one of the young people who received a 100-thousand-dollar grant from venture capitalist Peter Thiel for skipping two years of college to pursue an innovative business venture. Yu says the spray is absorbed steadily through the skin so users don’t get the jitters associated with coffee or energy drinks.
The Thiel Fellowship program director credits Yu for finding a way to get his product on the market quickly. The caffeine spray doesn’t need FDA approval since it goes on the skin and isn’t considered a drug or dietary supplement. The spray could be on the market by the end of October.
