It is Finally here-Carl Dukes “Put’em Up”
TRAINING CAMP IS HERE! Ahhhhhh take a deep breath with me, this means that football is back and it will not be long that we are complaining about preseason games. Remember there are only a few things that every team wants to accomplish during camp.
1) Develop talent
Training camp presents a great opportunity to help shepherd young. Coaches are looking for a player with the potential to turn into a major contributor if properly coached.
2) Evaluate talent
Entering camp, a coaching staff will know how fast and strong everyone is, thanks to offseason workouts. Now its time to figure out things like route running (for receivers), recognition (linebackers and defensive ends) and performing under pressure (kickers). Who can contribute?
3) Develop new schemes
New ideas to help the team improve.
4) Work on conditioning and team building
Today’s players are well-conditioned, but that’s entirely different from being in football shape. Football conditioning is a very important part of training camp, where players are allowed to work in pads, unlike at organized team activities. Teams often try to incorporate a lot of running into their drills.
Team building is another important aspect of training camp.
5) Maintain health
Injuries are the biggest influences on a team’s win-loss record. Stay Healthy!
Falcons camp starts Thursday and we will be broadcasting live from Flowery Branch. Make sure you tune into the show today and everyday starting at 2pm on 92.9 The Game. Put’em Up!!!
