Georgia Sales Tax Holiday Is Back!
ATLANTA (AP/WAOK) – Georgia’s sales tax holiday is set for Aug. 9-10.
Businesses in Georgia won’t be charging sales tax on clothes, shoes, school supplies and computers on those two days in August set by the state.
There are limits. A pair of shoes and an item of clothing can’t cost more than $100. School supplies can’t cost more than $20 per item, with a $1,000 limit on computers and accessories.
The Georgia Department of Revenue reports that they have had an annual sales tax holiday for more than a decade with a few exceptions. There were no sales tax holidays in 2009, 2010 and 2011, when state officials said they couldn’t afford it.
