Did you miss the news today that Tim Tebow is headed the Foxboro to sign with the Patriots…as a QB. Yes, yes, I know, you might be picking up your jaw from the floor right now; but in my opinion this is the BEST possible thing that could happen to one Tim Tebow.
Tebow will be reuniting with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. McDaniels was the major advocate in drafting him in the first round to the Denver Broncos. He knows his potential, he knows his character, he knows his upside.
And I strain to remember a player that was not benefited in some way by playing for Bill Belichick. Control the circus? He won’t even allow the circus to start. Doubt there will be a welcoming press conference, also doubt he will be available to the media on regular basis. In Foxboro it’s about the name on the front of the jersey. Period.
Now imagine working behind one of the BEST QB’s EVER to grace the field in Tom Brady. A guy who knows a thing or two about being an underdog, having been drafted in the 6th round, all scrawny and pale. That Tom Brady NEVER had a shot with Giselle, and look at him now. If you don’t think that a smart sponge-like individual like Tim Tebow will feed off that, you are foolish. Will Tim challenge him for his job? Most certainly NOT; but I believe he will watch, listen, grow, work and attempt to mimic the great Tom Brady.
You don’t have to agree with Tebow’s religion or faith to root for the kid.
This move has NOTHING to do with that.
The old adage goes, good things happen to good people, and good people land on their feet.
Both of those things happened to Tim Tebow today.
Good luck, Tim. You’ve got a lot of people rooting for you.
PS-I would pay to be a fly on the wall in the Jets’ office today. A place where the circus continues WITHOUT Tim Tebow.
