African American Music Appreciation Month is celebrated every year in June. It was originally started as Black Music Month in 1979. This year on Atlanta Up Close we are highlighting black women behind the music. This week we sat down with Catherine Brewton, Vice-President, Writer/Publisher Relations of BMI Atlanta whose worked with Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, and Rihanna. Hear how she launched their careers.

Cynthia also sits down with high profile, entertainment attorney, Uwonda Carter who is responsible for negotiating contracts and advising clients on corporate and entertainment matters. Hear how she manages clients like, Young Dro, DJ Drama, “Toya” Wright, and Erica Dixon of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta on money matters.
