STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. (AP) — Police in metro Atlanta say a 79-year-old man has been fatally shot by his son, who called police and surrendered afterward.

Authorities say the shooting unfolded Wednesday afternoon at a family-owned auto parts store in Stockbridge — about 20 miles southeast of downtown Atlanta.

Henry County police Maj. Jason Bolton says John Wesley Morgan was shot as relatives and other employees looked on. Bolton says the shooting stemmed from a fight at the store between Morgan and his son.

Police say the shooter, whose identity has not been released, was sitting at a desk when officers arrived.
