Carl Dukes: The Boo’s and El Oso Blanco
Friday night I took the family to go see the Braves take on the Dodgers. After all of the years of hearing that damn Tomahawk chop in covering play-off games and seeing the Braves in the play-offs…I must admit my 8 year old daughter is a fan and enjoyed getting involved in the festivities!
Thanks to Justin Upton’s Grand Slam the Braves came from behind to win. Meanwhile every time his brother came up to bat BJ Upton got booed. His batting avg is less than Prince (billboard awards last night) weighs soaking wet he is hitting .145 yes I said .145 it’s not even worth discussing. Ok yes it is, I have been all for letting BJ play through this ridiculous slump, but after seeing him swing at almost anything Friday night, its time to sit him down for a while (2 or 3 games) with hopes that he can get his head on and his focus back. I just think he is pressing so much now the club has to help him and give him a few days rest. But I digress… BRAVES WIN!
Onto saturday night…the Braves are carrying three catchers on their roster only because Evan Gattis, is a game-changer. El Oso Blanco, aka “the White Bear” did it again Saturday night. Gattis came off the bench to hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning, lifting the Braves to a 3-1 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers BRAVES WIN! Gattis, who is tied for third in the majors with six game-winning RBIs, and leads major league rookies with eight homers and 22 RBIs. He is a 240-pound Texan has two home runs in four major league pinch-hit at-bats, and six of Gattis’ eight homers have given the Braves a lead. ENOUGH SAID! Plain and simple this kid has been awesome!
Tune in and Put’em Up!
