Atlanta City Councilwoman Cleta Winslow is facing charges of DUI after her arrest overnight near her home. Atlanta police say Winslow was driving along Oglethorpe Street in southwest Atlanta around 11 p.m. in a gray Honda Accord when she was pulled over.
Winslow refused to take a sobriety test and was taken to Atlanta Pretrial Detention Center where she was booked on a number of traffic violations including DUI, driving on the wrong side of the road, and failure to stop at a stop sign.
After a few hours Councilwoman Winslow was released on $2,400 bond early Wednesday morning. She is expected to attend a city council meeting later today.
Mayor Kasim Reed said he would let the incident play out in the legal system.
Cleta Winslow has been a representative in the Atlanta City Council District 4 since 1993.
