POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) - A local woman may have misinterpreted the meaning of the Ten Commandments mentioned in the Old Testament, as she was arrested late last week for attempting to steal a copy of the Holy Bible.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that 23-year-old local resident Ashley Chacori Fleming attempted to take a copy of the religious tome from a nearby Barnes & Noble last Friday afternoon.
Before she was able to successfully leave the premises of the store, which is located near Cumberland Mall, Fleming was caught.
An arrest affidavit obtained by the Journal-Constitution states that Fleming “did exit the store with the merchandise, passing all pay counters.”
Fleming was arrested by deputies with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office, then remanded to the county jail around 3:30 p.m. the same day, the paper learned.
She was reportedly released early Saturday morning after a $1,000 bond was posted.
