And with the 60th pick of the NFL Draft the Atlanta Falcons select…..someone REALLY fast!!! Robert Alford, from Southeastern Louisiana will now be coming to Flowery Branch bringing a lot of speed and ability to cover. Alford, is 5’10, 188 pounds that runs the 40 in 4.39. He will also upgrade the return game. Besides speed, Alford like Desmond Trufant had a brother in the NFL, Fred Booker but considered a more talented version and with his performance, particularly at the Senior Bowl he has pushed himself into an earlier pick.

Alford strengths are that he is tremendous at playing press coverage and contains the closing speed to take risks. Although it has been perceived that he would need to get stronger he has great upper body strength that aids in his technique. Alford will also be a “ball-hawk” for the Falcons. Alford was a 1st Team All-District receiver in Louisiana and was 2nd in the 400 meters in the state as well so he has long sprinter speed along with the ability to intercept the football. In relation to weaknesses, Alford will have to improve his tackling and strength overall. Plus, this is a “big boy” league so his level of competition in college is naturally a concern. However, this was a solid pick for the Atlanta Falcons that filled a couple of needs.
