ATLANTA (AP/WAOK) – — Georgia Attorney General’s officials say two former youth counselors have been indicted on charges of racketeering, Medicaid fraud and theft by taking.

Spokeswoman Lauren Kane says Derrell Jackson and his wife, Shayla, allegedly obtained more than $600,000 in Medicaid funding by billing the Georgia Medicaid program for services they never provided over three years.

Kane says their company Project Focus, LLC was enrolled in Intensive Family Intervention, a Medicaid program that provides in-home mental health counseling to children who are diagnosed with severe behavioral disorders.

Kane says the two filled out fraudulent progress notes they put in patient files and forged the names of non-existent employees on the notes.

It’s unclear if the two have attorneys.
