Apartment Fire Leaves Nearly 30 Families Homeless
ATLANTA (AP/WAOK) – A fire that tore through an apartment complex in metro Atlanta has left nearly 30 families homeless.
A group of units at the Marquis Cove apartments in College park, about 10 miles south of downtown Atlanta, was badly damaged in the blaze early Monday morning.
Melinda Powell, a resident of the complex, says she was asleep when the fire started and was grateful to escape despite losing all of her personal belongings in the blaze.
There were no reported injuries, and the Red Cross is offering 29 families assistance. The apartment’s management office is also offering to help displaced residents find places to stay.
Authorities are unsure of what caused the fire.
