TUCKER, Ga. (AP/WAOK) — Authorities say one person was killed and two others injured when a pre-dawn fire swept through a metro Atlanta nursing home. Fire officials say the two-alarm blaze started around 3 a.m. Tuesday at the Meadowbrook Nursing Home near Tucker.

DeKalb fire Chief Edward O’Brien says the fire was contained to one room on the second floor of the two-story building. It was doused by the facility’s sprinkler system. O’Brien said one person in that room died, and a second person was transported to a local trauma unit. A third person was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor smoke inhalation.

CBS Atlanta reports that the DeKalb County Medical Examiner identified the woman who died as 64-year-old Laura Barett
