ATLANTA (AP/WAOK) – Police in Atlanta are searching for the driver of a hit-and-run crash in which a bicyclist was dragged and then died in the street.

Atlanta police say 54-year-old Walter Amey of Atlanta was hit around 9 p.m. Sunday on Abner Place, not far from his home.

Atlanta police Sgt. Grey Lyon says officers and paramedics initially thought Amey had been shot. Lyon said that after examining him, they determined he had been struck by a vehicle and dragged.

Amey was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Investigators early Monday were looking for anyone with information about the crash.
