Columbia Developing “Good Times” Movie

(WAOK)  —  A movie based on the 1970s TV series “Good Times” is reportedly in the works.  “The Hollywood Reporter” says Columbia Pictures is trying to launch a film version of the series that starred Esther Rolle, John Amos and Jimmie Walker.

“Good Times” also marked the TV acting debut of a very young Janet Jackson.  A spin-off of the sitcom “Maude,” the series revolved around Rolle’s character Florida Evans and her family living in a project apartment in inner city Chicago.  The original cast also included Bernadette Stanis, Ralph Carter and Ja’net Dubois.  “Good Times” ran on CBS from 1974 to 1979.
