7 Ex-Principals Rehired After APS Cheating Probe

ATLANTA (AP/WAOK) – A new report out this week claims that seven principals once accused of wrongdoing in Atlanta’s school cheating scandal have been quietly rehired.

Reportedly the news came after interviewing lawyers for the principals.

The seven educators are among 38 principals who were implicated in the cheating scandal last year in a report by state investigators. The investigation named about 180 educators in instances of cheating dating back to 2001. The state investigators cited a range of violations – from teachers holding parties to change answers to instructing students to recheck work if they noticed an incorrect response.

Shortly after the report was released, then interim Superintendent Erroll Davis vowed that educators found to have cheated “are not going to be put in front of children again.”
