The Mo Ivory Show: Most Black Men Are Not In Jail

How many times have you heard the quote, “There are more black men in jail than in college.”   Well, that statement is just not true.  Today, there are approximately 600,000 more black men in college than in jail, and the best research evidence suggests that the line was never true to begin with.

A substitute teacher at Kell High School in Marietta gave a homework assignment that asked students to compare policies of President Obama against the policies of Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin.  She was really trying to make the point that President Obama is trying to change the United States, a capitalist country into a socialist country.  Parents complained and the assignment has since been removed.  Should a teacher be imposing their political views in assignment given to students?

Also, we discussed the oral arguments presented yesterday at the Supreme Court of the United States relating to the pre-clearance requirement which was put in place to prevent racial discrimination in elections.  A decision will be forthcoming from the court this Summer.
