Tonight I am marinating on time well spent with wonderful people. From the time I get on the air with my 92.9 The Game family, to recent time spent with family and friends, my cup truly runneth over.
All of this love reminds me that we can “Pay it Forward” each and every day of our lives.
There are things that I KNOW to be true, and one of those is that I am happiest when I am doing for others. I can acquire all the things in this big-old world, but when I give of myself or my time, well that is just the icing on the cake.
And you see, it doesn’t have to be outlandish, it could be as simple as a smile, or a door held open for a little-old lady.
Yesterday I told just such a lady that she was beautiful at the grocery store. She was beautiful, but what was more beautiful was seeing her face light up like a Christmas tree. That didn’t cost me a thing, but yet I gained so much.
This weekend I was honored to be asked back to speak to the Lovelady Center in Birmingham, Al. A Christian rehabilitation center for women and their children that want to turn their life around.
These women are REALLY struggling and have been through SO much; they clung to my words of inspiration like a drowning victim just thrown a raft. And truly I was just a vessel, too. If you know what I mean.
But something special happened Sunday night.
I gave them hope; but they gave me more.
They gave me perspective, they showed me REAL strength in the face of adversity,
and in the end, they did all of the inspiring.
Funny how life works, huh?
Now go “Pay it Forward,” you don’t have to wait until Friday.
