Super Bowl spots this year came in at a whopping $4 million dollars each. Whose money was well spent? Here’s our take on the best Super Bowl commercials.
Hyundai – “Epic Playdate” and “Team”
Hyundai had two great ads for its Santa Fe minivan, the first featuring the Flaming Lips and an epic day out, and the second with a motley crue of kids taking on a group of bullys.
Audi – “Prom”
A teenager takes his parents’ Audi to the prom and gets the girl (and a black eye).
Doritos – “Goat 4 Sale” and “Fashionista Daddy”
Doritos have been having their “Crash the Super Bowl” ads the last few years, and these were great submissions. A Doritos crazed goat, and a dad who will do anything for his daughter and a bag of Doritos.
Taco Bell: “Viva Young”
The elderly out for a night on the town, set to .fun’s “We Are Young” en espanol.
Mercedes-Benz – “Kate Upton Washes a Car” and “Soul”
Mercedes brings out the star power with cameos from Kate Upton, Usher, and Willem Dafoe as the devil.
Geico – Happier Than Dikembe Mutombo Blocking a Shot
The Geico “Happier Than” ads can be hit or miss, but this one featuring Dikembe Mutombo and his famous finger wag is right on target.
Budweiser – The Clydesdales: “Brotherhood”
This was one of the more touching ads of the night, featuring a foal and cowboy, and Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide”
NFL Network – “Leon Sandcastle”
We all loved this ad with Deion Sanders, going back to the NFL Combine and getting drafted #1 overall.
