Morehouse Student Shot

ATLANTA (AP/WAOK) — Atlanta police say a man has been hospitalized after being shot at Morehouse College.

Atlanta Police spokesman John Chafee says officers responded to a report of a shooting at Samuel A. Archer Hall on the Morehouse campus Friday night.

Chafee says the man was shot in his arm and was alert after the incident.

According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, a Clark Atlanta University student was arrested Saturday in the shooting. School officials say the shooting happened after a fight over a pickup basketball game.

Amir Obafemi, 21, was booked into the Fulton County Jail. He was charged with felony aggravated assault and carrying a concealed weapon and was being held on $2,000 bond.

The shooting victim was identified as Morehouse student Cornileus Savage. He remained hospitalized at Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery, the college said.

Students at the Atlanta University Center held an anti-violence rally on campus Saturday.

A scheduled Saturday basketball game between the Morehouse Maroon Tigers and Clark Atlanta Panthers was canceled.
