ATLANAT (AP/WAOK) – Fulton County health officials say they’ve investigated several outbreaks of norovirus associated with food service workers.

Officials say the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness has investigated several outbreaks of the gastrointestinal disease associated with food service establishments in the county, which is home to Atlanta.

Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramping. Some people may have fever, chills, headache, muscle aches and a general sense of tiredness.

Health officials say the most important step in controlling the spread of this virus is regular hand washing with soap and water. Experts said noroviruses are notoriously difficult to kill with normal cleaning and disinfecting procedures.
