ATLANTA (WAOK) – The Postal Service is unveiling a special commemorative stamp honoring the late civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks next month on what would have been her 100th birthday.

The ceremony will take place at the Charles Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit on February 4th. Parks made history when she refused to give up her seat at the front of a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, to a white man in 1955, helping to bring widespread attention to the civil rights movement. Parks lived in Detroit from 1965 to her death at the age of 92 in 2005.
