ATLANTA (WAOK) – Health officials are advising people to take steps to prevent the flu as the country deals with one of the worst outbreaks in years. At the top of the list, get a flu shot, and the sooner the better. Figures show that at least 112 million people have followed through with that advice. The makers of the vaccine were only going to produce 135 million doses this year, so there is still some left, but supplies are running. It takes two weeks for a vaccination to take full effect, but since the flu season is expected to last until March, it’s not too late.
