Stone Mountain(AJC/WAOK) -Three people believed to be members of the same Georgia family were killed in an accident Thursday on the New Jersey Turnpike, according to New Jersey State Police. An 18-year-old woman, also believed to be a family member, survived.
Police are investigating what caused a tractor-trailer to hit the back of a Toyota Camry around 10 a.m. Thursday near Mount Laurel, N.J.
Police said the Camry’s 51-year-old male driver, a 49-year-old female and a 12-year-old male were all pronounced dead at the scene. A dog in the Toyota was also killed, according to authorities.
The 18-year-old suffered minor injuries, state police said.
Police have not released their names, pending notification of kin, but say they’re from Stone Mountain.
